3 WAYS HIGH QUALITY BRANDING & PACKAGING CAN HELP YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS COMPANY

We have been helping hair extensions companies with their Branding for over 10 years and have seen numerous companies become successful, we have also seen companies not quite make it, lets look at what works and what doesn’t….

1: IT STARTS WITH GREAT BRANDING, AND ENDS WITH BAD BRANDING

From the choosing of your company name to the actual logo design this can be the most important aspect of whether your hair extensions company succeeds or fails.

When it comes to naming your hair company a lot of companies choose generic names such as ‘Sarah Louise Hair Extensions’ or ‘Hair Extensions from Gemma Butface’ (no offence if this is your actual company name by the way, we just made them up) not exactly the most memorable names. From experience the shorter the name the better, especially when it comes to the logo design, bear in mind how your logo will look on a small social media profile images like Twitter and Instagram, too many letters and words will be hard to read. Keep it short, keep it sweet, look at the biggest brands in the World, notice something? The majority of them have short, memorable names.

2: TRUST YOUR DESIGNER, NOT YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY

This comes from many years as a designer working for hair extensions companies whose owner values the opinion of the friends & family ahead of all else, why they may be great at helping you choose clothes, curtains or a bottle of wine the fact is they are NOT a designer nor do they have an eye for it, if they did have an eye for design they would be doing it for a living, like me.

The amount of jobs where a clients friends or family have resulted in poor branding that I would never, ever consider putting in my portfolio. Now, if a job ever goes a certain way I will always tell a client that ultimately its your final decision but this work is not portfolio worthy. Now if I say a design is not worthy of going in my folio that surely tells you something.

I have had many jobs takes an eternity to complete because various family members are taking an age to decide, mother wants this design, daddy wants this etc etc, the best solution is to trust your designer, they know what works, what doesn’t and ultimately they are the professional designer who lives and breathes design.

3: DON’T SKIMP ON YOUR PACKAGING DESIGN

“I just want my logo on it, nothing fancy” We get this particular sentence a lot, beautifully designed packaging speaks tons about your brand, even if your packaging is not sold off the shelf and online only, when your customer receives their packaging you want them to know they have purchased quality and that starts with the packaging.

There is nothing wrong with minimal packing design by the way but theres a bit more to it that just throwing your logo on the box. You want people to associate your brand with quality and not cheaply designed packaging that looks like an afterthought.
